Wow… This is already something two weeks ago. Anyways, the group of us who happened to have our paths crossed during our eventful first year in NUS Engineering finally convened to celebrate Yuenling’s birthday~! (Photo album here.) No, it wasn’t a belated celebration; “finally” is reference to the fact that the last time the group of us hung out was [insert huge number here] months ago. And I must say that it felt good seeing everyone. 🙂
Make an intelligent guess who the birthday girl is. Yes, she is the one in the brown top. And I don’t understand why my mouth was shaped that way. Hmm… And why didn’t I look into the camera?!
High point of the day was the cake~! Sumatra from Bakerzin:
A combination of dark chocolate & white chocolate with sumatra coffee mousse.
Mmm… It was nice~!!! Unfortunately I’ve forgotten the exact flavor of the cake to describe it accurately. But I did remember that it gave a nice chocolate aftertaste that lingered in my mouth. Ooo… It was unfortunate too that I had to leave the restaurant early and rush back to NUS for my tutorial. Otherwise I would have a larger slice of the cake and saved Yuenling the trouble of bringing it back home. Haha…
Now, the restaurant: Bosses a.k.a. 黑社会 located within Vivocity. The ambience was not too bad… Well furnished, with modern black and clean lines abound. They had a very cool gadget at the table that allowed one to get the attention of the waiters/waitresses almost instantaneously. We went during the tea time special where they had a selection of dim sum going at half price. The food was nice, especially the siew mai, which we ordered the most. 😛
- The restaurant had a weird policy of NOT allowing us take photos of their food. (?!?!)
- A pot of tea only served two guests. We had to purchase additional pots for a table of five.
- They provided only one dim sum menu per table. Other guests were given menu photocopied on a flimsy sheet of A4 paper.
- The dim sum menu included a mixture of food that was available and not available in half price. However, the asterisks that marked some exclusive food was gone due to the age of the menua.
It would had been a great experience if there hadn’t been so many BUTs that made me felt restricted left-right-centre. It was “Har?” one after another; especially the part where they didn’t allow me to take photo of their food. So, yeah, one less restaurant to visit in Singapore for nzj. Haha…
Back to the birthday girl.
She has been looking out for me in Bioengineering for the past few years la. I think I would have missed out a lot of stuffs if I hadn’t one person to approach whenever I miss any lecture or tutorial. Especially since I miss so many of them… And she is my Grey’s Anatomy khaki too~! Always quick to inform me whether the latest episode is interesting or not. Haha…
